RSV Vaccination being offered from September 2024

There is a new vaccine being offered this winter- the RSV vaccine.
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is an infectious disease that affects breathing.
It is common in young children but is most serious for small babies and older people, and can lead to hospital admission for treatment.
From September a single dose of the RSV vaccine to protect our most vulnerable and will be offered to:
Pregnant women over 28 weeks
adults aged 75 to 79

The midwife should be offering the vaccination to pregnant women and the surgery will be inviting patients aged 75-79 to attend for vaccination. We will be in contact with eligible patients shortly.
